Because they are idiots. Isn't that what you always suspected? |
|

Lexy

because they have to justify the fact that they spent extra money on a 4x4. |
|

stuuee

because they all feel like they are far superior to every other vehicle on the road. |

They feel super cool and they think that since they have 4x4's they can do whatever they want. It's a false sense of security, although it is very safe. |

Thrill-seeking death wishers live all around us. See them tailgate us wherever we drive. They're many of the same ones who think smoking is 'relaxing' - it's a cancer-stick therapy mentality. Wa hoo!! ?? Have a healthy and happy new year! |

No most of them don't. They get a false sense of security driving a 4x4. |

because those idiots have never been in accident in winter time yet. more 4X4s ended up in ditches than FWD/RWD cars b/c they think wrong about what their 4X4s can do in all bad weather conditions. For those who slow down in the snow, I applaud. |

I know, and it's nerve recking too. That goes for big trucks, etc. Don't they know that their trucks can turn over? That's how a lot of accidents happen. B/C these PPL out here that drive trucks think they own the damn streets. For some reason when it's snowing they usually drive the worst, especially during a blizzard. Then innocent PPL get killed in car crashes b/c of their stupidity. Dammit it's usually ice under the damn snow, don't they know that? I don't feel that no-one should drive fast even during summer months, it's dangerous and it endangers other PPL lives. It's so sad that we live in a society that a lot of PPL want to rush to get to where their going. Hell you're still gonna get there no matter if you're doing the correct speed limit.
That happened to me once in a friend of mine truck. She's driving fast, it's a F****** Blizzard outside, the damn truck almost turned over, I told her stupid a** to let me out, I love me, it's not that damn serious to be driving like that. Da hell. |

They do it because its fun, they dont think about the stopping aspect most likely. |
|

Max Cruise
 |
Marketing hype for the most part. You are right, they cannot stop faster. Since most 4x4's are heavier than a 2 wheel drive counterpart, it will take MORE time and distance to stop. Unless you live in the mountains, the hot setup is a front wheel drive car with FOUR winter tires such as a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks. Improvement in all facets of driving are huge. |

The short answer is no. They seem to think that because they have 4WD the extra two drive wheels allow them to go as fast as they want through snow or even rain. None of them have ever heard of the philosophy of braking on snow or water. |
|

GO TO HELL
 |
Because they have a false sense of security, not realizing that stopping distances have absolutely nothing to do with four wheel drive. |

I have no idea, but it drives me nuts! Plus, its really stupid.
Last winter, a guy in an SUV cut me off, driving far too fast on the ice, and got out of my sight. When I hit traffic a few minutes later, the source turned out to be his accident, which must have happened only minutes after he passed me. The whole front of the car was pushed in and EMS workers were loading a stretcher covered completely in a white sheet into the ambulance, which had no lights. He'd slid and hit the freeway wall. The guy obviously died, and for what? To get wherever he was going just a few minutes faster. It's just not worth it. |

They cannot stop faster than anyone else, but 4-wd does help in snow. Contrary to popular opinion, 4-wd is no better on ice than any other type of vehicle. It may even be worse because it gives it's operators a false sense of security. Only chains or studded snow tires help on ice. It is fun, and fine, as long as they do not endanger others with their antics. |

Stupidity and the lack of respect and safety for others is the reason. |

Too much action movies? Lol its more annoying to see a Hummer being sparkling clean rather than seeing it used for off road stuff. They turned a awesome vehicle for the army into a ***** car honestly |

It's just the fact that they handle better, they do stop a bit better on snow, but they don't stop any better on ice |

No, we cant, but we do have 4 wheel drive, which is rather helpful on ice when you start to slide. Tap the gas gently and you stop sliding. its fun. |
