I would beat the crap out of someone if I seen them leave there kid in a car, even for a quick run into the gas station.

This happens a lot in Phoenix. A couple of weeks ago, a guy left his baby in her car seat for over 2 hours. Nobody in the house noticed she wasn't there. She died a day later.

If there ever was an argument for involuntary sterilization, that's it.

I hear about infants that get left in the car on a hot day.
Its plain neglegence to me.
There was a case where a father went to work, and when the end of the day his infant son or daughter was found dead. He said he thought he took the little tike in at the day care.

Many of these stories are about parents who forget to bring these kids to daycare before leaving to work. The baby slowly roasts in the car all day. These parents have their priorities screwed up. They love their kids but they're thinking about work, paying bills, errands that need to be run so they forget the most precious that has ever happened to them. For that they will grieve forever. Everything else pales in comparison.

Before the newborn baby leaves the hospital, the parents should be required to watch a video of the horrors of these "accidents". GRAPHIC photos included. Baby roasting in a car for hours does not look like a sleeping baby. It's a gruesome image. The same goes for drowned babies and other common "accidents". That's the only solution I could think of. The parents need a healthier dose of fear in their hearts and minds so they can get their priorities straight. Baby safety is Priority #1. They may never move up the career ladder as much as they hope, bills will probably be late, and sleep deprived parents will need to sleep in "naps" for a while but they won't have to live their lives with guilt over their child's death.

Parents need to be shooken up a bit and get a healthier dose of fear which some apparently don't have enough of. Parents nightmares are a good thing. They help you remember what's most important.
