Why are cops too lazy to work car accidents anymore?

Apparently cops don't punish people for causing wrecks anymore. (at least in the city) They just make sure insurance is exchanged and let everybody go. They don't even determine fault anymore so if the guy who hit you wants to lie after the fact the cops won't help you. Don't you think that's retarded? Doesn't it make you mad that you can get a ticket for speeding and not hitting anybody but if you hit somebody it's ok?

It makes their paper work a lot easier.

A long while ago a cop was talking to us kids about not looking for traffic when we were biking (even though we were, but I guess some weren't) and he told us that he doesn't care if we get hit by a car, but think of him because he'll have to do all the paper work about it when we get hit. SO we should look so he won't have to work as hard...i thought it was pretty funny lol.

In our city, the police are overworked with bigger crimes, such as robberies, rapes and homicides, so a wreck doesn't take top priority. I don't think they're being lazy, there's just not enough police.

The police don't heavily investigate minor accidents. If there are no serious injuries and property damage is minimal they leave it up to the insurance companies to sort out fault.

Major accidents are investigated by the police, though not by the beat cops. Larger police forces have accident investigation teams and smaller police forces ask for assistance from the state police investigation teams.

After a major accident, it's not unusual for the driver(s) identified "at fault" for the accident to receive a citation or summons in the mail weeks or even months after the accident.

Its a matter of ,would you rather not be able to prove fault in an accident, or have real crimes run totally unchecked?
