Why are men better drivers?

Why are men better drivers than women? I want mature and scientific answer please. I'm just curious because I have trouble parking straight and little things like that and I'm a girl... but also a new driver. Additional Details Well I wasn't really sure what gender was better. I just hear a lot of people (men mainly) claiming men are better with driving. However, young guys seem to be the worst from what I've seen. They blow through stop signs and what not while cracking up with their group of friends in the car. So yeah.

Sally cat,
Greyeagl hit the nail on the head, If men were better drivers than women then why is it that a woman gets better rates on her Insurance.
I believe since women mature faster than men they tend to take driving more seriously.
And since the advent of power brakes and power steering (which takes away our strength advantage) women have become even better drivers.
way to go ladies! |

Driving requires quick decision-making, anticipation of other drivers' maneuvers, and attention to detail. These are things which often are more in line with the way men think than women (not always, but generally). I think women have the capacity to be every bit as good behind the wheel as men; generally, however, I think men have a better overall track record due to their mindset. |

for that statement to be true, you'd have to include specific factors. younger men tend to be horrible drivers. elderly men and women tend to be past their prime as far as coordination, vision, and response reflexes. middle aged women tend to get in quite a few accidents mostly due to children being in the car and often being distracting.
your problems with driving are more than likely due to lack of experience more so than capability. i'm in my 30s and still have difficulty parallel parking at times. |

Just a stereotype - men or women, of any ethnic background and any level of experience, with all other things being equal, have the same percentage of 'good' and 'bad' drivers. Until fairly recently (i.e. a generation or two ago) the professional drivers (truckers, race car drivers, etc.) tended to be almost all male, so they had more experience and specialized training. However, even then the vast majority of men weren't professional drivers, they just thought they were. Proper training, a good attitude, and a willingness to learn make you a good driver, not your gender. |

i promise you it has nothing to do with gender! being a new driver, boy or girl, means that you will have flaws!
GOOD LUCK! |

lol my dear there is no difference between men. the only things i can think of is that women tend do multitask while driving, taking attention off the road. or in bad situations women will over react and panic |

Young Girls get better prices on insurance than young Boys,so men are no better if as good as women or girls at driving! |
