Because cars become people's kingdoms... where they rule. They are the ones in control; they are the one "behind the wheel." They have a bunch of metal surrounding them and their windows rolled up, with their own theme music, choosing their own route. Unfortunately some people look at it as their only means of power in this world--and like many people with power, they abuse it. |

Because those people are stupid when they aren't behind the wheel, too. By the way, the phrase is not "behind the wheels". It doesn't refer to the wheels of the car. "Behind the wheel" (singular) means behind the steering wheel. I don't allow the stupid behavior of others' driving habits get to me as much as it once did. I drive defensively. |

Because the DMV is very free handed when it comes to handing out licenses and people truly dont give a crap about the other people that are on the road with them~ |

They're lazy and think they're the most important thing on the road. Everyone is too self-entitled these days... |

they leave the brain at home or on the cell phone. Espically where I live. They come here for vacation from all over and i wonder how they ever make it this far. |

You are generalizing, since most people do signal. However, in urban areas, particularly low-income neighborhoods, more drivers tend not to use their signals, as well as drive very aggressively. |

They are just assaholics. I take it to the next level sometimes. If I get in with a bunch that never uses a turn signal, and I see they on the cell or reading a book (yes this happens) I will signal the wrong way. Or sometimes just stop and stay a while. I usually will not turn right on red, even if clear, if the person behind me does not signal. That is not illegal. |

The main reason is, 'They dont feel they have too'. They assume that the person (people) behind them, know they are tryign to get into the next lane, because they may have their car pointed in that direction, or they are willing to wait, until there is a spot for them to slip in. Sometimes, they can go either way, and go in and out of lanes, just to get by people, They do it so much, they dont CARE to use a turn signal. |

People are stupid in front and in back of their wheels as well. Just pick someone off the street and you can bet they're stupid no matter what they're doing. |

Cause they can't get off their cell phones and pay attention! |

MY favorite are those drivers that don't know people are all around them yet drive in erratic patterns trying to get where they're going. those people and drivers who are lost and stop at every light and street to see if THIS is the right street to turn on to |

Because they are lazy,i drive for a living and i hate people who do not indicate on roundabouts it's so dangerous,I drive a large heavy vehicle and end up sitting waiting just in case because if i pull out on a car there dead meat. |

Some people forget. Especially when they are beginners or young drivers. Cut them some slack or drive carefully around them. Others are just plain lazy and don't care about other drivers. |

Because we are all bad drivers on occasion -- some just need more training. |

I definitely have to agree with Elliott on this one.
People need to respect that they are operating a few tons of machine at high speeds. |

the theory of use and disuse ! im not talking about the turning lights but their brains... |

good answer hot pants - it should be illegal in all states -
the scariest part of a car is the nut behind the wheel - i think people just don't realise how dangerous it could be |

Oh THANK YOU!!!! Is it so hard to use that middle finger on the left hand for something GOOD!?!? It frustrates me to no end. People are much better here in Northest Ohio though. They tend to be signalers. Nothing like Chicagoans. And don't let the person be on the phone or over the age of 70. Forget sensible driving. Forget it. |

there are quite a few reasons ..........
many are too busy multi-tasking to do any of them well .........and stay focused on their driving .
examples : shaving or applying makeup while driving , talking on the phone , reading , writing , getting things out of the back seat , feeding a baby and yes even , watching tv !!!!
i have seen all of these things and more ..........
i applaud those individuals ( all five of them ) who can actually do other things while driving , and still maintain
........but alas.........those people are too few and far between .
as they used to say in a 1960's ad campaign for safe driving ..........."watch out for the other guy ! "
cheers ! |
