Why are some people so impatient?

This Morning I'm driving to work, I'm on a busy roundabout near where I live and I stopped to check it was clear, ok I knew straight after I'd done it I didn't need to stop but I thought I'm too slow to pull off now something’s coming (I've only been driving 3 weeks), then I hear a bib from the car behind, I looked in my mirror and he's shouting at me! Some swearing and what are you doing, swinging his arms about! My first instinct was do a not very lady like sign back but I thought no I won't do that so I mouthed ''oh shut up'' and he was still going mental so I laughed because his face was so funny, then I concentrated on the roundabout but I was a bit flustered so nearly pulled out on another guy, so he bibbed me as well (that time was totally my fault). Ok I haven't got anything indicating I'm a new driver but it's fairly obvious, my question is why are people always in a hurry and inconsiderate? Don't people realise they can cause more accidents by bibbing and intimidating?

Unfortunatley, some people are just too impatient.

To be honest, I, like you, was very cautious when I first started driving and got a lot of the same. But now, after 10 years, I have become a very bad driver.

I know that I would never pass a test, I have too many bad habits. So, after reading your question, I realise that I too need to take a bit of time and consider my actions.

Oh, just a thought... Buy a set of GREEN L Plates... They let others know you are a new driver, so they will now to avoid you, lol

Good luck and take it easy.... *L*

Ignore the areshole and many you will encounter in the future. I find it funny too when they go mad like that, they act stupid.

Try getting on the Central Line at 8.20 in the morning - thats impatience! x

People have very short memories and forget that they were a new driver at some point too.

It is simply bad manners and rudeness.

Also, I believe it is illegal to sound you horn whilst stationary, and in any case, the horn should only be used to remind other people of your presence.

People always seem to think that just because they possess a licence they know everything immediately, which is pure ignorance.
I once knew a chap taking driving lessons who got hooted at for being a bit "slow" to move, so he got out of the car (a VERY big bloke, 6' 6" & 17 stone), went back to the driver behind and said "The L plates are my excuse, what's yours?" Shut matey-boy up immediately!

I'd suggest a set of green plates, too, at least some drivers should have the sense to understand what they mean!

Mystery
impatience is just a character trait. bad drivers can be seperate from impatient people too but impatience can make a person a bad driver. you're just going to have to get used to it, and never ever assume you're safe because you're a good driver, you need to keep your eye out for all the bad drivers who could constantly and potentially be a danger to you.

Unfortunately you are asking the age old question about inpatient drivers. The definition of a Split Second--- the length of time between the lights changing to green and the driver behind sounding the horn!!
The problem follows you around, someone almost bursts their engine to get past going up a hill and then slows down once they are over the top of the hill. The stories are never ending.

You are probably driving quite correctly, that is why you are being beeped. As a road user myself I always keep my two hands on the steering wheel, this is the correct proceedure. As you gain more experience you may notice that the person behind needs to get there quicker than you.

Stuff the beepers, Drive safely, and enjoy .. take care out there.

RELAX! Remember YOU are in control if YOUR car, not the impatient drivers. My guess is that they were probably talking on their cell phones and weren't really paying attention either. Our uptight hurry-hurry society has created this monster.
Concentrate on being a good, safe driver and you'll reap the rewards later. I know it's frustrating being honked at but keep your cool and proceed at you own pace. Remember this later when you see an accident that could have been avoided.
Good Luck!!!

people are stupid when driving.

It's crazy, you can travel fast, and far, and get places in much quicker time than ever before, but people are still in such a hurry.

I think it's more about road rage though, people are driving in their steel boxes, and they feel like they own the road, they love the power and feel like a king and everyone else is a useless driver compared to them, it's a common mental illness.

So, when someone is doing something THEY dont like, or feel is slow/stupid, then the get the chance to feel even more superior which reinforces their stupidity.

It's insane, it's totally selfish, and absolutely the stupidest people doing it. But people change behind the wheel, they are in control and some people just can handle power wisely.

I have seen so many accidents where people have run a red light because they are impatient. Instead of waiting for 30-50 seconds or so (the average light change time) they decide to run the red, and for the next hours/days/weeks/months (if they survive) they are sorting out the accident, getting their car towed, ringing insurance, seeing who's fault it is, talking to the police, getting charged with dangerous driving, going to court, waiting for car to be fixed, or buying a new one... All to save those few seconds, when in a car you can travel fast enough for those seconds not to matter anyway.

I agree more accidents can be caused by this behaviour. You did the right thing to be careful, to make sure it was clear.
