Why are the street signs incredibly small, so a lot of people can't read them and THIS CAUSES A LOT OF CRASHES. Thhey could easily make them much bigger. Why are they so small?

How does this cause any crashes? With the exception of speed limit signs, which have very large numbers that can easily be read, you do not need to read any signs to drive safely. Each safety-related sign is made a unique shape or color (for example, only stop signs are octagons), so that you can respond correctly without reading the text. If you cannot read the signs that identify the streets by name (which is not necessary if you either know the neighborhood or have GPS or a map), park the car, get out, walk up to the sign, read it, and then return to the car. |

They aren't any smaller than they were before. Your just not 16 years old anymore. Get a pair of glasses.

When I was younger my eyes were excellent. I never complained about signs.
But since 2 years ago, my eyes started going and I've been feeling the signs could be bigger.

So how big should they get? Enough for me? Enough for you? Enough for my friend (who is nearly blind)?
I guess there has to be a limit

One size fits all according to the state and federal laws and the costs of making them bigger would hurt us all in the pocket....but I agree that they should be somewhat larger... |

This is why people say someone over 65 should be tested and possibly not allowed to drive. This is why they give you eye tests. Try going to an eye doctor you may need glasses. I wear glasses and I have no problem reading road signs. Honestly I'd like to see road signs where you are just to see how "small" they are. |
