Why aren't elderly drivers reflex tested on a yearly basis?

Have they got rid of the man that walks in front of your car with a red flag yet and nobody told me.
Driving 40yrs no accidents this includes emergency vehicles at speed and all conditions.
I agree with you but not yearly every two to three years after 60yrs.
Or compulsory medical to go with license

I think you will find that youngsters have more accidents than older people. Insurance for my friends son who is 17 for a 1 litre Corsa is over Â£1,000. My mother (78) is insured to drive my Saab Turbo for Â£300. Experience and a bit of sense must be more important than slightly faster reflexes.

I'm going to guess that before it's over you want to be considered elderly too...right? You want to be tested every year too? You say you'd have no problem with it NOW...but that will change. Amazes me that people simply have no respect for the elderly anymore. It's a sad state of affairs when any country gets that way.

The same reason that young drivers are not tested plus how often do you see elderly drivers using cell phones or texting.....

I am an old man and still ride a motorcycle every day and some baby asked me oi old feller arnt you to old to be riding bikes

when i was in the Air force a 1.8 K run the Requirement was 14 minutes for a 55 year old

I can still touch my fingers behind my back and touch my toes without bending my knees

i don't drink and smoke or take drugs or medication except fluid tablets and the last time i was involved in an accident that was my fault was in 1962

so why should i be penalised just because i am old i do a medical every year a driving test every 2 years because that is the law for over 85 and my last one was on the Bike on my first attempt

50, 60, 80.

yes there are some elderly people that should not be driving and can't see past the hood and there some good drivers, I'm 63 and race motorcycles, (on a track) so define elderly. younger drivers might have good reflexes but don't have the instinct to see a dangerous situation.

It really boils down to the fact that we " Elderly" are on here teaching you youngsters how to look after your "Zot Crafts" after you have tinkered with them till they won't work anymore or you don't have a clue.

I am 59 years old. A smart mouthed, snot nosed ricer asked me a similar question a couple of weeks ago. I informed him that I would surrender my license if he could beat me on the twisty valley road a few miles away.

I still have my license.

Teenagers have quick reflex. Stupid in fraction of a second. Wrong reflexes crashes.

Elder drivers do not use able to use seconds for no need to avoid collisions.

Dam right, Elderly drivers are often a menace on the road. People should have to get test every now and then to check they can still drive. On the other hand, the tests would be a bit annoying for those of us that are able.
