Why aren't all cars friendly to the enviroment?

They are. This is not generally discussed, but cars reduce pollution. Horses made far more pollution than the cars that replaced them.

Actually, compared to 30 or 40 years ago, they ARE. Back in the 50's and 60's, the pollution in So. Calif was so bad you could hardly breath in the summer, and nearby hills and mountains could not be seen. I KNOW. I was here.

Today, there are probably 5 times as many cars running around, and the air is MUCH cleaner. We can breath and see the hills all year long.

Everything we do has an effect on the environment. To include exhaling.

nothing is friendly to the environment. even the environment is destructive to itself. deal with it.

Duuh...huh?
The only enviro-friendly vehicle would be a sailboat. Even then you would have to chop down a few trees to build it.

they are, they just get bad press. everyone assumes that if they read something in the paper it's true

Because way back when, the environment wasn't a concern like it is now and technology was limited. Now it is more of a matter of what people are looking for in a vehicle, so even though the environment is a concern, not everyone is willing to drive a hybrid, or a hybrid doesn't fulfill the needs of all people.
