Because airplanes have wings and cars don't. |

Becoz aeroplanes have wings which create lift and allow them to fly. They also have massive engines which provide the power and thrust needed to create enough lift for a 'ten ton aeroplane' of the ground. No car so far has these features, or they are very rare... |

when birds are walking on road, then cars are flying. |

plans are meant to fly
they are designed with wings and engines and so on
cars are meant for the road !

They can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YajH5BC7La0
(well not really)
Airplanes have lift
http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/lift1.html
Cars can fly too, they just crash really bad after they get airborne. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPiST6it91I |

An airplanes wings and engines create lift. A car doesn't have wings to keep it up, and once the tires leave the pavement it will start to slow down. There are vehicles that can fly and may replace cars one day. ex. (moller.com)...but you still need to have a pilot licence to opperate them. Also look how humans drive the cars they have now, do you really want some of them flying? I think we may have flying vehicles one day but they will be automated and not piloted by us. |

Because we don't need them.
Around the turn of the century Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space 9) was doing commercials for a telecommunications company, I don't recall which one. At the beginning of one of the commercials he started off by saying something along the lines of, "It's the year 2000. Where are the flying cars? I was promised flying cars, where are they. Well, we don't need them with today's high speed internet access." I could be wrong about the ending words, but he went on to explain how with today's technology we don't them. Instead of flying around the world for business conferences we have the option of doing phone conferences, web conferences or simply telephone conferences.
Basically the need to have a flying car has been replaced by technology that mitigates the reason why we would need one in the first place! |

Can cars fly? Small ones can, right off the lot

i dont think you can fit a strong enough engine into a car which is why airplanes that are so heavy can fly. |

The airplane is designed to fly and the car is not. However the manufactors are talking about making cars to fly. What big crashes we will have then plus more fatalities with everyone flying across the skies in a hurry some not respecting the rights of others. One day just like electric cars there will be flying cars. |

For alot of reasons. First they are not aerodynamic in a way that would maintain a balanced airflow around the vehicle. It would tumble through the air, in part because of the air pushing it more on one side than the other and because the center of gravity in too far forward or back, COG belongs between the wings on an aircraft. Another, it does not have wings and a tail, or delta and canards. It doesn't have control surfaces of any kind. It doesn't have any way of generating sufficient thrust. Even if you put a prop on the crankshaft of an ordinary V-8 it wouldn't provide enough power to get something that weighs as much as an ordinary car airborne.
A lot of engineering and planning goes into the design and production of cars and planes and they are designed for specific purposes and are not interchangeable when it comes to what they do. |

because if all cars could fly then that would be a disaster!
because everybody would be flying in the air and there would be a lot of accidents and they could run into planes and helicopters and such so that would be a huge mistake for the person who created a car that could fly. |

lol, because no body has decided to take on the attempt of actually making cars fly. it would be fun, but who knows if it's even possible... i'd love to see it tho! |
