Why can't people use turn signals a few feet PRIOR to actually turning?

well they don't use them in road racing so i don't have to do it on the road right
I mean I have my cellphone coffee and sandwich to deal with i don't have time to use a turn siginal

don't expect a turn siginal and don't trust them either(don't pull out in front of someone with there turn signal on signaling they are turning onto the street before you)

Because if you do that then it won't give the people in the cars around you enough warning time to slow down or switch lanes if they need to which can cause a collision.

I wish I knew!! It is so annoying when you are following someone who is breaking for 1 minute then turn on their blinker and then turn right away! Grr...

Maybe there needs to be "How to use your Blinker 101 for these people!"

the signal is meant as a warning to other drivers that I intent to turn so they have time to prepare. not to be as I'm turning right now. of course common sense has to come into play like not having your signal on to far in advance.

I understand the whole "don't give them any headsup to block me out of a lane on the highway" (don't like it but understand it) but what's up with not using a blinker when leaving a road - dang - the person behind you doesn't know to slow down with you, the person trying to come out of the road you're turning into gets irked that you just lost them a chance of getting out. People are so much more rude behind the wheel than they would be in person.

because they have not read the book you study to get your license. they are rude...they like to keep you confused and watch you guess what they are going to do. they just woke up....they were too busy talking on the cell phone and didn't have a free hand. who knows. but yes.. it drives me nuts also

Either because theyre ignorant & expect others to read their mind or may be unsure of where they are going leading to last minute decisions to turn into roads.

I guess its because to warn people that you are actually turning.
They say a 100ft before turning cause there is people out there that are not paying attention.
So the best thing to do is to turn it on 100ft. before turning.
You dont want a silly driver to mess up your car.

well so if there is someone right behind you,that is to let them know ur turning so they can slow down

Because if the driver signal too early, the other cars BLOCK them from entering their lane. So it has become people's bad habit to signal as late as possible.
