Sorry to hear about your friend, I went through that when I was 16. Drunk driver hit him. It was terrible. As long as there are cars, there will be accident and unfortunitily people will die. If people would be more courteous and drive safer the numbers would go down. Once again sorry about your friend. |

I was in one, so I can tell you from first hand experience. Lets say its a one care accident. The car is going 50 miles and hour and suddenly hits a tree, now its going 0 miles an hour. Your body is still going 50 miles an hour. It doesn't just suddenly stop. Think of an egg being dropped from the top of a building onto a sidewalk. . All your vital organs are smashed against each other. Your neck whips back and forth. Your head smashes into the windshield or steering wheelYour body was not meant to go from 50 to 0 in 0 seconds. |

Sorry about your friend... a lot of people dont realize how dangerous driving can be if you are not responsible enuf to put 100% focus on it. |

They are dangerous because of the sudden stop at the end.
When you are driving down the road, you are going the same speed as the car. When you collide into something, that releases the energy the car was creating to move forward. As the saying goes, a body in motion stays in motion, and thus the occupants in the car are still moving even though the car has stopped. Once you fall forward and are restrained by the seat belt or ejected through the front if you stupidly didn't wear a seat belt, then the energy that was created from your forward motion stops, and then it comes to your internal organs. They are moving just as fast, and collide forward as well inside of you until they are stopped.
That is why car crashes are so dangerous. |
