Why cell phones aren't allowed to be used near gas stations ?

Supposedly the static electricity could ignite the gas.

However, Mythbusters proved this is a myth.

Because when they 'ring' they give off an electrical spark that can cause a gas explosion. Cell phones can be used as detonators.

Some moron convinced a law-maker that the signal sent from a cell phone could ignite gasoline vapors. Yeah, right.

Test after test has been conducted without causing a problem.

because of the hazard of the fumes being ignited by the static electricity of the cell phone

Do it and find out,you can cause an electric shock and get blown the hell up.

The only reason that it is not recommended is that if you should drop your phone and the battery comes out and strikes the ground it could cause the flumes to ignite but this has never happened...
