dunno, lot of buses dont have em 4 the passengers either, i think its only skool buses with em, and even then its those crappy lap ones where u break ur back if theres a bad crash.
u wud of thought theyd introduce propa seatbelts on all buses, includin drivers with those rules bout car seats |

Very few buses reach a high enough speed to justify wearing a seatbelt. The fronts of buses are actually very good crumple zones.
Just a thought though, if you got on a bus and the driver was wearing a seatbelt but no other seat had one, would you be happy to travel on it? |

Obviously, because they aren't required to if it's not installed. Also, many buses don't even HAVE seat belts. WHY? because they weren't REQUIRED to have them at the time of manufacture. |

well accually a lot of them do but they wear the belly seatbelts and not the common car seatbelt that goes over your shoulder. another reason for not wearing them is that if a bus does ever crash its generally very slow and a lot less dangerous for buses than cars. |

because the buses are not fitted with seatbelts in the first place and it would cost money to fit! (most companies don't bother) |

I heard all drivers like cab drivers don't have to by law because of safety issue. Like if someone coming up behind the driver and using the seatbealt as a restrand for crimes. |

As of 18 September 2006 it became law for all passengers in a bus to wear their seat belts(if fitted) It was law for the driver to wear the seat belt (if fitted) before this date but most just ignore the law. If stopped the driver of a bus is subject to the same penalties as a car driver. The biggest problem is that traffic enforcement seldom stops bus drivers for this offence. If they did, more drivers would comply to the law. |

Why do the passengers not wear seat belts, either ?????
Same thing, maybe they don't get given the option. |

te same reason that taxi drivers don not,a safety thing. incase some comes behind them and tries ti straggle them with the seatr belt. |

Most of the bus drivers I've ever encountered have been suicidally miserable. So maybe that's got something to do with it. |
