Over time, people become accustomed to driving. It becomes second nature, they begin to act on 'automatic pilot', not really paying attention. And sometimes.....Mother Nature drops a foot of snow on the ground and the car just slides into another. |

A true accident is something that cannot be avoided.
Most car "accidents" don't really fit this discription.
Run a red.
Follow too close.
Run a yellow.
Didn't look/check mirror/blind spot.
Drive too fast.
Drive into something.
All these, and more, are preventable. That makes them not truly accidents.
A true accident is more like this true story from this spring: Sunny, windless day. A group of motorcycles leaves a rest area. A birch tree breaks, and a large branch comes crashing down on the first motorcycle. The rider is ok. The passenger (his wife) was crushed.
No warning, no preventing - that is an accident. |

Sometimes it happens when a driver isn't paying attention to the road, or they don't anticipate mistakes another driver is going to make. Sometimes it's not anyone's fault, and it has to do with the road being slick from rain or snow, or someone has a car that's in bad condition and a wheel falls off and causes an accident. My friend also flipped her car over because she didn't inflate the tires enough. It happens so fast and so easily! |

Well cuz some people are drinking there HOT Coffee from Starbucks and are just paying attention to that and how "Good" it is, and some people are just so stupid by talking/texting on there Cell Phones 24/7
ALSO= Some business people use there palm Pilot and when their looking at that, they Rer-End the driver in front of them. |

Collision is a better term. An "accident" is something that just happens, where as collisions have causes and a logical explanation. Most collisions have more that one factor causing them, the most common factor is driver error. Others include: drunk driving; roadway conditions; and vehicle conditions/mechanical failure. |

It's a delicate balance between attention, speed, and luck. Take defensive driving, drive sober, and drive less in general.
Things are never the same again after a bad accident. |
