You use one foot so that when your foot is on the gas it doesn't bump the brake, and vice versa. You could cause an accident by using one foot or two. You are less likely to push in the wrong pedal with one foot though, no thinking it through you just need to make sure your foot is on the pedal you want. |

Using two feet can ruin the braking system on the vehicle and yes it is somewhat dangerous because you can get confused and hit the wrong pedal in an emergency situation... |

because when you use two feet you have a tendacy to leave your foot on the break petal.... causin break pad wear |

Because you might have to drive a manual car one day. If you are used to braking with the wrong foot, you might make a mistake when you go to use the clutch.
If the handbrake works on your car, there is really never a time when you should have to use brake and gas pedal at the same time anyway. |

Your left foot is for the clutch.
The right foot is for the accelerator and brake.
Using the left foot on the brake leads to riding the brake which is having the brake slightly applied when driving which leads to several problems. A) following traffic will see you brake lights all the time and therefore have no warning when you do slow or stop. B) excessive brake wear and likely damage to the brakes from overheating. C) rotten fuel economy. |

You don't have to. I drive an automatic and use both feet. You decide how to control your pedals and what foot you want to use. I race and I use my left foot on the brake as well as the clutch because its comfortable to me. Keep the right foot covering the gas and use the left to brake you can also get out of some other idiots way because all you have to do is give it gas and take your foot off the brake. |

Because that's how you drive an automatic.
But on the flip side, I went to college with a guy who's family only drove stick shift cars and I was nervous to ride with him when he drove an automatic because he was so use to driving with both feet I was afraid he'd hit both pedals. |

With respect this is rubbish. I was a policeman for 22 years, then retired. In 1988 I decided to try two foot driving. Once used to it, its far safer as the left foot is near the brake pedal if it is needed.
Stop listening to the so called Experts, try it, its much better. Also on the odd occasions I have driven a manuel since then , its much easier as agaain one used both feet. Big or small cars makes no difference, its better.
Re. the law, check the ACT, if that makes no mention about feet one can ignore the regulations, thats just what the legal draftsmen and women think the act means.
