Why do people display those "baby on board" signs?

I mean do they honestly think that people go around having accidents they could avoid?

do they expect us to go "oh no, better have my brakes fail later on, when i'll only wipe out the carload of college kids, because that car has a baby on board"

Most people i know will avoid an accident with ANY car, little yellow sign or not.

do you really thing "young teenage hoons" are going to give two hoots about your "precious" baby, if they don't care about their, or anyone elses life? i can't see the cute factor in them. as for "bragging" about having kids... while i'd love to have kids one day, i don't see it as an achievement worth bragging to strangers about, considering the most basic/simple animals can breed.

lol, I agree. I have one, but just cuz my hubby thought it was cute. No, I don't think it will keep us any safer.

I agree although I rarely see one anymore. I'm sure I'll drive extra careful just because of that sign. My dad used to drive around with a "Pervert on Board" sign in his car. Nobody ever hit us either so I'm assuming people were just as cautious driving around perverts as they were driving around babies....LMAO...

I think it gave parents a little extra sense of security at first. Whether it helped or not is anyone's guess.

What happened, though, is it turned out to be a fad, and a huge one. There were so many different "on board" signs dangling from windows, it got downright annoying.

As with any other fad, it faded rather quickly. I haven't seen one in years.

I have also often asked my self while driving am i supposed to be like well i was going to ram that car but oh whats that they have a baby on board so i better not oh look they have no baby on board CRASH. I have no idea

The sign is to warn tailgaters not to come too close, BACK OFF!! "I won't go any faster". The sign is supposed to be on only when baby(ies)on board. have seen some maniacs with "baby on board" sign sped down the street 55mph in 30mph zone.

It is so that if their is a insane driver he will be more cautious around the vehicle. These signs are helpful and their are not that many accidents with those signs in the window.

because cars who are trailing the vehicle that has 'the baby on board' sign might at least be cautious not to overtake fast that vehicle. we should avoid every accident. we might as well be careful.

Maybe in hopes that a wreckless driver would be a little bit more careful knowing there is a baby in the car.

I think people display those signs to tell others drivers that either they are with child or have a child in the car.

its for all those crazy, teenage, ignorant showoff types that think its fun and cool to zoom around cars like drunken idiots with their little rice burners.

Its to make IDIOT drivers stop and think about their actions.
