Why do people in dark colored cars?
Find answers to your legal question.

Why do people in dark colored cars?

insist on driving with no headlights or just their parking lights on when the sun sets? Don't these morons know that it's almost impossible to see them?! It never fails, I'm riding along and I want to change lanes. I check my mirror, check over my shoulder and then signal -- just then there's a blaring horn and an evil look as some knucklehead with his lights off zooms by me! Am I missing something here???

ok, I'm not just blaming the people in dark colored cars, but the fact is I don't have a problem with bright colored cars BECAUSE I SEE THEM COMING. That's the point of this question, don't these folks realize that it's equally important to see AND be seen?!

Firecracker .
Only dark colored cars?
The thing is, you mustn't have looked hard enough.
Also, after you hit the signal, you need to look again. Always.
There are laws that require lights at certain times.

In the '70s, our government decided that motorcycles should have headlights on all the time. They believed that would reduce accidents.
The truth is, it wasn't nearly as effective as they thought.

As far as "parking lights" - - - at one time they were called "running lights".

If you are inconvenienced by someone who is obeying the law, perhaps you should change the law. Personally, I believe most drivers need to do better in all respects instead of blaming "the other guy".

Because they are Bad A$$'S and do not need no stinking lights. After all I am sure it is dark in a coffin. Unfortunately no ones reports back on that one. I do not know why but some one needs to educate the little people that they need their lights on. Maybe it is like turn signals the light switch is to hard to figure out how it works.

the only thing your missing is that most people these days have something i like to call "Mr. Rodgers' Syndrome". These people have the attitude " it's all about me, im so special" You need to respect the mentally challenged.

Dear, I have no idea. The funny thing about parking lights, is that their very name implies that they are to be used for PARKING, not driving.

Why people insist on driving with them turned on, but not the headlights, is totally beyond me. Put it this way, you don't see your average executive driving his BMW around like this. It's usually older more... "customized" cars. Think 1994 Dodge Intrepid with wheels worth more than the car...

Not sure. I personally hate seat belts. I know they can save my life, but every once in a while I refuse to put it on while driving. Possibly a chemical imbalance of the brain? It's funny, I do this yet will walk into a business and see nothing but OSHA infractions. Now I'm rambling....

Yes, what you're missing is that generally, people are driving far worse today, exercising far less caution and courtesy than ever.

It's SHOCKING to me to see the carelessness being displayed on a daily basis. No signals given for changing lanes, running "cold" red lights, no headlights at dusk or in the rain and more.
This last omission (no headlights during rain) is especially common.

Another motocyclist was killed this morning - speed in excess of 100mph on a residential street. Had his motorcycle permit for 4 days! Motorcycle DEATHS (not injuries) are becoming a DAILY occurrence.

At this point, I'm about to install an air horn on my car - at least the driver committing an unsafe lane change will get the message! Drive Safe!
