Why do so few people use their turn signals?

Especially in southern California, very few people use their turn signals properly when changing lanes and preparing to turn. Why are people so rude when it is so easy to notify traffic of your intent to turn or change lanes? The turn signals are standard equipment on every motor vehicle and are to be used when applicable. If they were used, it would lower the number of accidents AND incidents of road rage.

I seriously believe most people think everyone else knows where they are going. I also think they believe everyone else should get out of their way. It's annoying. |

My boyfriend always makes a joke about them being optional in Wilmington, NC, which is where we stay...nobody uses their signal lights and it ticks me off!! |

I think about it this way, they have a $16,000.00-60,000.00 vehicle and they couldn't afford to include having the turn signal installed, ....it must have cost extra so they didn't get it, ha! ha!
and that my friend is why ignorant people dont use turn signals! |

To put it simply, they are amateurs who still haven't figured out what the small lever on the left of the steering column is for. |

Same thing here in france... people with a few years of experience in driving a car think they know better, that "it's obvious" that they're about to turn...
I don't think we can do much to help the situation, except educate the drivers. |
