Experimentation with alcohol during the teen years is common.

to feel older
From a very young age, kids see advertising messages showing beautiful people enjoying life — and alcohol.
And because many parents and other adults use alcohol socially — having beer or wine with dinner, for example — alcohol seems harmless to many teens.

As a youngster I'm insulted, where are the stats to back this up?
It is probably a matter of confounding - i.e. when a second variable is the cause. Put it this way, more young people drink. News programmes don't consider this sort of thing! |

i have only drove drunk 2-3times and the reason i did that was because we were at the far end of our camp property and wanted to get back but not on main roads. i know better then to put other drivers life in danger. people who drive drunk are stupid. |

I would have to agree with oliverhale... I live in a small village, we have virtually no young people who drink & drive, but a hell of a lot of people in their 40s, 50s, 60s & 70s that do. |

Inadequate laws.
Ban drink and driving and you reduce / eliminate the consequences. |

They think they are invincible and can do anything...add to that some peer pressure and thats how it happens. I am working on a Government road safety campaign right now and the statistics are scary. |
