I think they happen because people don't pay attention when they are driving. They could be talking on their cell phones or something else distracting them. Also maybe they are driving while under the influence of alcohol or another drug.

Because so many people are talking on cell phones nowadays while driving. Not only that, but people are also starting to TEXT and drive, which is a hell of a lot more dangerous. Also, some people are very stupid and don't look both ways, don't pay attention to road signs, don't use their blinkers, etc.

because people distract themselves instead of focusing on whats in front of them. People shave, talk on the phone, read the newspaper, and even clip their toenails while driving. If the concentrated on the road, their wouldn't be such serious and deadly accidents there are on highways.

1. Talking on a cell phone.

3. Thinking about his/her problems in life.
4. Taking eyes off road to light a cigarette.

People need to be more courteous and not use their cars as weapons. They also need to lose the distracting cell fones and text messaging. Stop trying to race, and "get even" with people, and to obey traffic laws accordingly. Stop driving drunk, START USING F***ING TURN SIGNALS, and don't eat a Big Mac with one hand and sip a coke with another while smoking a cigarette...

People get distracted easily. Taking the eyes off of the road for a second is dangerous. People have no patience. Road rage. Alcohol. Improper experience. Cars can't be trusted. Cell phones. People don't check their blind spot. The list goes on and on, but it all boils down to the fact that people drive cars and nobody is perfect.
