They have a special coating on them which holds the glass together when they break. That is why they shatter and are usually indented but still stay in one piece. Its designed to be safer if something hits your screen while you are driving so you dont get covered in thousands of shards of glass travelling at 70mph! |

They are laminated which means there is a layer of plastic inside the glass and prevent the glass from shattering.

They don't break because they are made from two layers of glass with a layer of plastic sandwiched between them. |

A windscreen is not made out of one layer of glass, for safety reason it has two layers of glasses with a plastic sheet between them. Hence the reason when you throw a brick at it, it will not shatter. |
|

I don't believe it!
|
They're laminated. |

A windshield is made with 2 layers of glass and a layer of plastic heated in the middle that way the glass wont shatter but break into small pieces making it less hazardous during accidents. When you hit one with a brick the plastic doesn't allow the brick to penetrate into the vehicle |

Automotive windshields are made of two layers of normal glass. These form a laminate with a polycarbonate interlayer in between the glass sheets. There is no extra strength in the glass in fact it is easier to break than tempered glass(side windows) it is purely the lamination that gives it it's impact properties. You can actually 'cut' laminated glass with a glass cutter. You cannot do this with tempered glass it will just shatter! |

modern cars have force fields that can tell when people throw bricks at them |

They use safety glass. |

they do break when you put a brick through them |

they are laminated so when you chuck a brick at it the brick hopefully hit's you on the head lol
Its laminated so incase of a crash it keeps you from flying out the window ;) |

they do not brake because they are reinforced: this is what a windscreen contains: layer of glass>>>>>sheet of plastic>>>>layer of glass |
|

vdv_desantnik

its reinforced glass to lessen the chance of it breaking inward if a stone or something like that hits it |

The windshield is constructed of two layers of impact resistant glass with a plastic bond in the middle. The plastic material prevents reduces the possibility of objects coming through. It is called "Safety Glass" |

they don't break because of the type of class they are made of and if you were driving and your had a crash and you couldn't get out.then you kick it a few times and it will break and a car window can smash depending on the fource it was thrown at |

After the glass is tempered and cleaned, it goes through a laminating process. In this process, two sheets of glass are bonded together with a layer of plastic (the plastic layer goes inside the two glass sheets).
The lamination takes place in an autoclave, a special oven that uses both heat and pressure to form a single, strong unit that is resistant to tearing. The plastic interlayer is often tinted to act as an ultraviolet filter.
When laminated glass is broken, the broken pieces of glass remain bound to the internal tear-resistant plastic layer, and the broken sheet remains transparent. Thus, visibility remains good. |

buddy they are lamionated, there about three layers |

It's because theyr'e laminated with plastic sheeting in between. Although I have heard that if you throw a piece of ceramic [like the tip of a spark plug] that this will have better success - Don't try it though!! |

hhhmmmm

yup its a bit like gluey 2 so when it break it just comes away in tiny little bits of glass all stuck 2gether you can't cut your self seriously |
