Why don't people clear the snow off their cars so they can see out of their windows?

Ok, it's the first major snowstorm in the NYC/Tri-State area, and it NEVER fails... people taking off into the storm (it's still coming down heavy as I type this) barely clearing their windshields enough to see out of, leaving snow covering the side and rear windows. What kind of mentality is that?

Most people are simply in a hurry to get somewhere, especially in the morning. People get dressed before they walk out to the car, and then the last thing they want to do is STAY outside in the cold and clear the snow off. So they get in their car, away from the snow, and turn the wipers on. Almost a solution, but the rest of the windows haven't been cleared. |

hahah oh my god, I see this so many times.
People don't plan on SNOW, they're still stuck in clear, don't have to wipe off the car days.
So people usually just shovel out their cars as best so that they can drive away, forget the whole "I CAN'T SEE" aspect of it. Some people don't wipe off the snow because the mentality is "i'm not backing up to where i'm going" and just think that the front windsheild is the only glass they need to clear. |
