Why don't people use their blinkers that often anymore?

Because people just don't give a dam. It'a a move out of my way world to a lot of people. Those people usually end up in accidents as I know because I've seen it a lot in my line of work as a paramedic and someone usually says I didn't use my blinker or something to that effect. There are also several distractions from driving now a days including DVD players, people eating on the run, droping things, and people under the influence of things. Best advise is to keep your skills sharp and watch out for people like that. We have to take defensive driving every year and the say that most acidents can be avoided. And I agree with you, it dosen't take a rocket scientist to turn a signal on. Welcome to the lazy america!!

Don't you know, the rules only apply to regular people.
The 'special people' don't have to use blinkers, they don't have to say please or thank you, they can stay seated while pregnant ladies & grannies stand on the bus/train, ad naseum.
To me it's pure laziness.

people are too busy talking on the phone, drinking coffee, reading the paper, eating burgers, knitting, reading palms - you name it - while driving, so road courtesy is one of the first victims. it's a consideration issue, and unfortunately is no longer considered a safety issue. of course, it's still better than the ignoramus who zooms past roads and driveways with his blinker on, never intending to turn.

Where I come from, it's sometimes not a good idea. Especially when making lane changes. People are rude and won't let you in knowing you'll be stealing their "pole position". Other than that, you're right- it isn't that heavy. Some people just don't care how inconsiderate they've become.

No, idea but it annoys the [you know what] outa me. About creamed someone the other day because they didn't use their blinker. Bleh. Seems worse in rural areas though, maybe because people are more comfortable and feel like they aren't gonna have an accident in rural areas.

Those people are most likely not going to get in a barfight even when that is the only good choice, or tell thier wife/girlfriend she is being a biyotch when she is being one. They are doing what they can to look and feel like they are anti-establishment without making too many waves. Real toughies! They look as if they don't care about others safety, but maybe thier stinkin' blinker switch is broken and it is you who should let them know so they can get it fixed.
