Is there anybody else seeing that a lot of people do not use their turn signals. is that because when you buy a car these days you have to pay extra for them or are they still standard equipment on a car?

O my Gawd! I was going to post the same question.
People in my town do that a lot and we tend to have a lot of wrecks on the stretch of Hwy that runs through the town.
Doesn't anyone realize people behind them wont slow down if the turn signal isn't on and that it could cause a wreck?
Use the turn signal people! It should be second nature to flip it on. I catch myself flipping on my turn light going into my drive way. |

I hate to inform you of this, but it isn't just todays driver that don't signal, it has been that way since turn signals were invented. Watch police cars , they are as bad as regular citizens for not signaling. |

According to Response Insurance, a national car insurer, 42% of those drivers say they don’t have enough time, 23% admit they are just plain “lazy,” 17% don’t signal because when they do, they forget to turn it off, 12% admit they are changing lanes too frequently to bother, 11% say it is not important, 8% say they don’t signal because other drivers don’t, and perhaps most disturbing 7% say forgoing the signal “adds excitement to driving.”
The Company identified several driver-types when it comes to ignoring turn signals – Impulsive, Lazy, Forgetful, Swervers, Ostriches, Followers, and the Dare Devils.
“The bottom line is that most drivers are failing to see the importance of using their turn signals,”

Around here in Ohio, if you signal to change lanes, the drivers in your target lane will break their bottoms to 'close the hole' and block your move.
It works the same way with turns and merging onto the expressway. If they see you signal, they do everything in their power to block your move.
Cincinnasty has absolutely the rudest drivers in the world, bar none.

Some are just lazy. Some don't realize they've burned out. Others don't care or simply can't afford the $5 bulb or fuse with the way things are.
There are always arm signals that should be used when the flasher is broken.
I've been called out by a Canadian driver for not using mine while backing out. Granted, technically I should have and I was in the wrong. |

Not having turn signals on a car is "not" illegal. You have to use arm signals.
But, people are either lazy or think that they are the only "farm tractor" on the road.
They know where they are going. So their mind is in "La-La Land" Give them space. They may be looking at you but it just does not register in their brain.
" I know, I have had times where I have stared at red lights thinking how nice that would look on top of the Christmas tree. . . .waking up at the last second to realize that it was a stop light and I had better apply the brakes.
It does not normally happen but we are human.

My opinion:
1.The driver is just lazy.
2.The driver thinks you are a mind reader, and doesn't need to turn on their signal..
3.The driver thinks the law doesn't apply to them.
4.They really think it cost money every time they use the turn signals.
5.Who's behind them, doesn't matter.
6.What! This car has turn signals. I didn't know that.
Oh, don't forget the drivers that put on a left turn signal, then dodge to the right and make a quick turn in front of you. |

a car without turn signals would be illegal, so no you don't have to pay extra for them. people just don't use them because they are too careless to. its like a yellow light kinda... some people wanna speed through it causing a safety risk, while others slow down like the yellow actually means. so all in all people are lazy. you don't have to pay extra for turn signals. |
