Why don't some drivers signal when making a right or a left turn?
|
can someone give me a very good reason why some drivers don't signal. for example, at an intersection I was waiting to make a right or a left turn but had to stopped when seeing cars approaching from ahead, left side, and right side. when these cars got to the intersection, they just made quick turns, left and right without signalling. this seems to be the trend where I live(big city, 5 millions people)and this pi** me off, I could have made a turn safely had they signalled. why not signalling? I also would like to hear from these kind of drivers.

They live in a world where only "they" are important. So how would using "their" turn signal help them? |

General laziness. However, based on the scenario you described, might I add a word of caution...
Just because someone is signaling to make a turn you cannot always assume they are actually going to turn.
The other day I saw a driver with their left signal on and followed them for a couple of miles through many city intersections. They never turned.
I signaled to make a right hand turn the other day at an upcoming intersection and a person pulling out of a parking lot thought I must have been signaling to come into the parking lot and pull out right in front of me! |

There is no GOOD reason, but a lot of causes, NONE of which are excuseble.
Pure and unadulterated laziness is the chief cause. Poor driver training may be another. For many drivers, traffic laws and rules of the road are, mere, formalities, to be obeyed only when convenient.
Witness the lane changers that barely signal, AFTER they have begun the change and have already claimed the lane as theirs. These drivers "know" that, if pulled over by an officer, they can claim that they DID use a turn signal. They still get the citation, but, they can drive away in angry indignation that they were unjustly targeted by a quota seeking cop who's job it is to fill the government's empty coffers. |

what u talkin' bout?

There are drivers of that nature everywhere. They are just lazy! If there signals aren't working, they had better have them fixed. If they get pulled over, those signals had better be working. |

Even if they had signalled, it would not have been safe for you to turn, because they might have signalled and not turned (another problem)! |

people fail to signal more often on right turns then left. This is thought to be because they have the right of way over left turns and don't "think" they need to alert someone of their intention to turn. The failure to signal a left turn is probably a lack of effort by the driver. Hope this helps |
