Seat belts make safer drivers. The seat belt automatically locks if it senses sudden acceleration, deceleration, and
high centrifugal forces due to driving fast through turns. This keeps your torso in place, hence allows you to maintain control of your vehicle rather than have your body fly across the seat. If you are sharing the road with me, and not wearing your seat belt you are putting me in danger. |

Spend a couple months riding a rescue squad and I think you will see the reason. Having to chip the rear view mirror out of a windshield because the other end is buried into a girls skull where her eyes used to be. Placing blankets over dead bodies that are laying halfway through a windshield. As for motorcycles and no helmets that doesn't compare to what your mad about. There's lots of laws that tick me off to. I hate that idiot driving 40 mph in the left lane. I can't do a thing about it! |

There WAS a time when you were responsible for the injuries you sustained as a result of doing just about ANYTHING.
Now, taxpayers get billed if you're not insured for medical.
The boys who take our $$ don't like it when they have to "waste" it on hospital bills of the uninsured. They need that money for welfare recipients and free hospital care for people who sneak into this country illegally. |

When people get injured and can't pay their hospital bills, you and I are going to foot the bill through our taxes. Why do I have to pay for someone else's discomfort? I say make helmets and seatbelts mandatory. |

Well where I'm at helmets for bikes are mandatory under the age of 19.. Get caught without one and you are charged..Actually the parents are charged.. Picture yourself going through the windshield headfirst... Then you'll know why you have to wear a belt. Seatbelts do save lives... |

I don't know. They are so inconsiderate and uninterested in people that it makes no sense. It looks like just another thing to do cause they really don't care about anyone. |

everything works on statistics,it doesn't matter how safe a driver you are.you age demographic defines how much you pay for insurance ,also tickets do too.seat belts are actually mandatory,it is the law.states have different laws on how to regulate it but no matter how you slice it you still need to put your belt on. everything works together . it is like the cops are working for the insurance companies and not the government |

i am a auto claim adjuster and have seen so many pictures of people being ejected from their auto due to no seat belts;;;;i dont like looking at photos of dead people due to the stupidy of not wearing seat belts;
i get upset that in our state, if you are in a truck, you are not required to wear one? the logic on that does not make sense; i had a claim where a guy was ejected from a truck for no seat belt and he was lucky he survived;
also, i dont understand the logic that most buses that carry our children dont have any at all?
i have seen accident scenes where it was amazing that the people in them survived; usually it it because they were wearing their seat belts and the air bags deployed;
also; some insurance policies can give you more benefits in a crash if proven wearing your seat belt; or in some, they can exclude if not wearing them; or if in an accident and not wearing them, your rates could go up for being an idiot, since the insurance company knows they will be out of pocket more for medical expenses;
this is one of the few laws that has saved lives; |

WHY?! Because city and state governments are tired of having to scrape dead bodies off their highways after someone is ejected from their car in a 50mph accident. SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES! Most car accident deaths happen because someone was not wearing their seatbelt. |

careful what you say next you will need a helmet in a car as well..
the best way around it is drive a car that did not come with them...all the new cars are lame anyway
as for the no health care argument..
.i have great coverage so can i be exempt of your "big brother " law ? as i will not be a burden to the health care system . |
