Why has everyone's driving habits got so bad lately(i.e. no driver courtesy, no turn signals, etc.)?

It seems like these days that people driving have become worse drivers. It seems like people don't use turn signals anymore, they can't stay in their lanes, they can't drive the speed limit, every person that is driving slow or driving erratically is on a cellphone, when it is foggy as heck or raining, they don't turn any of their lights on, and other stupid behavior that makes driving worse or more worrisome for other drivers. Im 21 and i have been driving for 5 years but i always use my turn signal, don't drive like a crazy person, and i don't talk on a cellphone hardly at all, let alone, hold a conversation,i turn on my lights when it is somewhat dark or raining, and i hate driving everyday because of other fools on the road that could potentially hurt other people.

Is this just bad driving year?, did i miss something?, or is it some external factor? What is your take on it.

I have never thought of it that way swaolatul...it is a shame because these unsafe drivers range from all ages, and you would think the older drivers would eventually learn some safe and sane practices, but they don't.

Because the police hardly ever stop any one for driving offenses where I am from. The police are tracked on who they write tickets for and if the percentage is to high for a minority group they get termed a racist.so they dont stop drivers......I see drivers run redlights, stop signs, make illegal turns down one way streets......pass cars on the opposite side of the yellow line and go around cars to go thru a red light. And lets not forget failing to yield to pedestrians at crosswalks or when having the walk light...and the cars that make the right on red when the big sign says no turn on red! And school zone speed limits..forget them.try and do 15 mph around here and the drivers pass you..even the school buses and parents headed to the school!

Not all people who are on the road, knows how to drive safely. Giving only 30 minutes of road test and satisfying the examiner is their main goal. After passing the road test, they drive in a way that could have been a failing factor during road test. So, I am trying to say is that, they only drive safely just to pass the road test for that 30 minutes. your every point is very correct. If you ask some of these people "what is a STOP sign" they would say "I have never heard of that". I hope u get my point.

Everybody is in a hurry to get from point A to point B. Drivers don't care about other drivers on the road and they do what they want, being it talking on a cell phone or whatever while driving. They are inconsiderate of other drivers and don't have safety as their top priority, which every driver should. I drive the same way you do pretty much and I want to get to where I'm going alive. And I can't believe when I see people without lights on in the rain.

We just have to watch out for stupid drivers and drive defensively and get away from them if possible. I feel your pain and I sometimes get mad at other drivers for cutting me off and such, but it's true that there's no driver courtesy anymore, but sometimes I come across courtesy drivers. It just depends on where you live.

As far as bad driving year, every year I come across bad drivers. It just comes down to that some people are good drivers and some are not. Some people just don't know how to drive safely and I wonder how they got their license in the first place. A lot of people just drive safely when they took their driving test, and then after they have their license, they drive the way they want.

I would call it a combination of increased driver distraction and general lack of concern for anyone else on the road.

Poor baby; you need to come to Saskatchewan for a few days. We use our turn signals even when there is no other traffic and we don't use our cell phones when we drive. And when we meet on the road we still wave to each other. I call it my little acre of Heaven.
I moved out here after 40 years of fighting urban traffic in Toronto, Ontario and I'm never going back.
