What if there was an emergency and you were the only one who could get someone to the hospital in the necessary time frame, or if there was going to be a disaster and you had to evacuate and there was no one else who could drive.

Commuting to work or school is hugely important. Also they get you to places faster then many other means of transportation.

So you can go anywhere you want without asking anyone to drive you.

Question 1. To get you from point A to point B and give you the chance to explore the world.

Question 2. Same as above but adding for emergencies situations.

Red A
In case of emergencies. A car is the fastest thing we can conveniently own.
I learned driving because I wanted to have some fun. :P

it really depends on where you live ... for example if you lived in an area where the public transportation was designed efficiently and there really was no need to drive then why would you need to learn ... but since our public transportation here in southern california is horrible driving to get to work, home and even school is a necessity. in this case driving is a must. I spent sometime living in central mexico and really you don't need to know how to drive since you can get somewhere just as fast as if you drove since the public transportation is so efficient. So since i live in southern california i learned to drive since it is a necessity if i stayed in mexico i would not need to and it would be more of a luxury to know.

Today the motor vehicle is the equivalent to the horse 150 years ago. Any society will only grow and flourish based on its ability to move freely from one place to another. Along with the train and commercial truck for moving goods and materials, the automobile gives individuals the virtually unlimited ability to travel anywhere in the country in just a matter of hours or days. In the horseback days, anyone who did not have a horse or access to someone with a horse was left afoot and thus not able to get supplies or summon help in a timely manner. Death was an early caller.

Today, not being able to drive is not quite so desperate, but it restricts one to public transportation, walking or pedal power. This could be advantageous in a metro area. Most of the population resides in suburban and rural areas and thus are more reliant on the personal motor vehicle to get from here to there. Knowing how to drive is on par to knowing how to pick and care for a steed, saddle up and ride back in the day.

All the best.

Good questions.

You don't know where Life will put you. You may live in the city now with public transportation, but if you decide to move to the suburbs, or another city where public transport's limited, or non-existent, driving is vital.

People should get their license and learn to drive even if they don't own a car. Having a license is good ID; plus the time may come when they may have to rent a car in order to go someplace.

I lived in the city for years, got my license, didn't have a car but never let my license lapse. Some who live in the city figure they don't need to drive as there's public transportation. As Fate would have it, I moved to the country, only took the written test and by first driving locally then hitting the highway I've developed my driving sense. I have no choice: my area does not have public transportation.

Safety first. If the driver lacks the skill, his driving is accident-prone record

Some people can make a living as a Driver

Yes. If I didn't know how to drive I would not be able to drive to my client's houses who pay lots of money to see me do awkward things.
