Why is driving so hard for me?

I got my california permit back in september. I still dont have my license.I get nervous when i drive.I also have adhd so it makes it hard for me to concentrate.I already took 3 2 hours classes and it helped but only a little.I want to get my license soon but i still need more work

i went driving tonight with my boyfriend.I have a 95 nissan quest minivan(got it for my b-day) im still kinda nervous with the size but there is nothing else i can drive. here are the problems my bf said i have.I stay to far to the right of my lane.I have a hard time accelerating and braking smoothly.my bf said since i have had my permit 8 months now and spent a lot of time practicing i should be better.he said i keep doing the same things wrong. im not sure how to improve though

you are new to driving so of course you will be a little nervous even if you did your driving school hours. it will be a lot more comfortable for you when you get your license because when you drive by yourself you don't have to worry about your parents or driving instructor picking on every little thing that you do so you can drive more relaxed. just practice some more driving and you'll get the hang of it in no time!

I just got my permit and had my first 2 hour class last Monday. Since then, (only two days) everywhere I go, I drive instead of my mom. Practice accelerating and breaking in an area with little traffic, preferably with lots of space. It just take practice. While driving, focus on driving in the middle of the road. Especially if you have a big car, it will feel like you're too close to the cars on the left, but most of the time you really aren't. PRACTICE!

keep practicing repetition is how we learn you dont learn how to ride a bike after only the first couple of times it takes more than that to learn, keep practicing and learning from your mistakes and you'll be fine!

I'm sure im repeating what your classes said but you never know. Start driving on local roads not highways, slowly ease into roads with more cars. it just takes alot of repetitive practice and getting used to. Keep your radio off, try to keep the distractions in the car as low as possible. Pretend everyone driving around you is a family member, that sounds weird but sometimes it can mean a huge difference, but don't let yourself get reckless. My way to solving this kinda problem was find a straight away gun it until i reach bout 140, then slow down. For some reason after i did that i lost all nervousness, fear, poor handling and so on. It was like i beat the road and now i could move on... This is what i used before i attended other classes.

Ask your parents to practice with you. You should go to an empty parking lot and have them instruct you on doing various things. Maybe on a Saturday morning very early like 6 am take the freeway for a bit to become adjusted to the speed and lane changes. But do it with your folks present. You just need to get comfortable behind the wheel. No class can teach you that. You need to experience it first hand.

keep practicing and just try to relax when you get behind the wheel. a little bit of nerves is good, or you would be to relaxed when driving and have an accident!

i know it is frustating to get the damn car into the parking allocated but trust me with practice you will get it right
