Why is it that schoolbusses don't have booster seats or seatbelts, yet they're ok?

i agree with you
but the reason why is because there are so many seats with cushions that if they were to get in an accident, the would bump the seat in front of them, or at least that was what my bus driver said to me wen i asked.. also, the ones in the front (the seats) have seatbelts
i thought that was a retarded answer though cuz what if a car were to crash w/ the bus, theres no telling wat would happen

and like some of the other people said, some school buses do have seatbelts
but i think all should have
why take the chance of a serious injury, or something fatal?

In some areas they do require them, They should require them, I don't think there's really an answer. Probably nobody has fought to have them added to the busses.

they dont have it because when the bus is stuck on a train track and your seatbelt is on you could get stuck and then you wouldnt have time to take it off and the tran comes then hits the bus then your dead thats why they dont have seatbelts or booster

Schoolbuses - at least the ones around here - DO have seat belts.

Different states have different kinds of laws on seatbelts in school busses. I, myself, never could figure out why each state can't have a mandatory seat belt law in all school busses.

Our precious cargo are out kids who ride the school busses during the school year but yet nobody does anything about it. Dude, your cool for bringing up the subject. Too bad there aren't more people like you.

in the state of New York they have seatbelts on their buses but here in South Carolina they don't. I don't know why it's like that. I agree with you.

When I was in school, I asked my bus driver the same question. I dont know if there's any truth to this or not but she told me you'd get hurt more if you were in a seatbelt and that the padding in the seats would be enough of a buffer in an accident.

The argument against seat belts on school buses centers around the fear children may not be able to efficiently and quickly exit the bus in the event of an accident. The National School Transportation Association opposes seat belts on school buses

Well where i live they don't have seatbelts on the busses. I think they are safe because of the fact that the seats are tall so if the driver stops quickly the worst that could happen is like a bloody nose or something less than that. So you won't go flying through the windshield as my mom use to say.

umm... they do have seatbelts and on some there are booster seats but not all carry young children

they say seat belts would be good for buses but that is alot of money to equip all the buses and govern them to make sure they are being used correctly
So what they do have is better compared to cars/trucks. the hiegth of the seats and the "padding on the back of the seats in front of you and so forth. Its the best bet for the money the school have to spend. Again something else that suffers all for the mighty buck
Ps talk to an honest cop or firefighter and they will say they see people die that could have lived if they were NOT weaing their seat belts it just all depends on the kind of wreck you are in, but yes I wear my seat belt it is the law after all
