Why is the driver's seat belt buckle different from the passenger's?

Why is the seat belt buckle different for the driver not the same type as it is for the rest of the passengers of the vehicle? I drive a Jeep and the drivers buckle seems different then the one for the passengers. I have noticed it on mostly Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles. Is there a reason for this?

Chrysler always has to be different, remember the old left hand thread lug bolts?

My wife and I are on our second Dodge Caravan and I note no difference between the left and the right seatbelts except for the fact that one buckles from right to left, and the other buckles from left to right.

The only difference that I have noticed is that one is right and one is left but I have never noticed a difference in the seat belt itself.....
