Why does the sidewalk have lines dividing it into little blocks instead of one long continuous sidewalk? please send the website where you found it ?

Side walks are scored with lines, so that the entire sidewalk does not break in to many pieces. These lines are called stress lines. If you notice a lot of concrete drive ways also have these lines. |

If it was put into one long slab, then it would crack. Roads are made that way too...unless they are asphalt. Asphalt is softer, so it can expand and contract on its own

Because it expands and contracts with heat/cold. This gives it room to do that without cracking itself apart. Also, if it gets damaged it is cheaper and easier to fix or replace. |

When concrete dries, it shrinks and then cracks. Without the lines, cracks would form randomly in the concrete causing it to break apart. By having the lines, the cracks follow the lines since that is where the slab is the thinnest.
