The companies that manufacture ATM machines do not make "brail" and "non-brail" units. All of the ATM "face plates" have brail, regardless of whether they are located at a drive-up ATM or on the outside of a building, inside a store or mall, etc. Easier to comply with federal regulations that way. |

Federal law. Has nothing do with if you are driving or not.
That is why when you go in most anywhere ther is brail on almost everything.
Lets say you are driving your blind friend to say a fast food place and he ( or she) is a lottle short on money and the bank is closed. YOu go to a drive up but she dont want to give you her pin number. So you pull up she feels the bumps and gets the cash she needs. Dont you think it is fair for you and her. She banks to and has money . |

The *ADA requires it, and has no idea where the ATM will be located.
It also requires ramps on most public buildings., among other things.

Braille?, on an ATM? They just have the dot in the middle of the numpad in GB. I've never seen a drive in ATM, but do you really actually look at the numbers whilst you're typing at a numpad?
Anyway, it's not only the blind that read braille. |

Because they don't make special ATM's for drive-up. The cost of making a special keyboard for drive-ups would be more than making them all the same way, and it would mean that the machines would not be interchangeable with others that are located indoors... |

Simple: the manufacturer only makes one kind and they use it at ALL locations. |

That is in case a blind man is walking w/ his cane or seeing eye dog and has walked up to the atm to withdraw money....they need those little bumps as a starting point! I know this to be true! |
