Why is this still happening to my car?? Why can't it muster travelling 90mph?

I had a problem with my engine a month ago performance wise as it was misfiring and physically was pulling back optimum performance. This was addressed and things until the last couple of days of so seem to have gone back to how it was.
In addition to this, I had a tear in on of my tyres last night whilst dricing on the motorway. This morning, I have had 2 new tyres installed at the front with the front being switched at the back. The back are still relatively new as they are the same make and they were purchased just under a couple of years ago.
I have in addition had tracking, wheel balancing/allignment etc done, yet on the road, when pitching around the 80/90 mark, the roadholding just isn't there and I feel a wobble from the left of the passenger side.
Go back to my engine, every time I accelerate over 70, I get this hissing/trebley type of noise. I was told this could be something to do with the air filter.
All in all, this has all happened in a space of a week. Before, I could rip the car doing 90/95 and wouldn't feel a thing.
I don't know whether it's just nervousness, but something just doesn't feel right - why no roadholding after all this??? What's wrong??
Cheers
Numark Additional Details Thanks for the responses so far guys. I have checked the tyres and although the front 2 are newer than the back 2, grip/condition wise, the back 2 do not seem to be overworn - just doesn't explain the lack in roadholding and why I feel one side wobbling despite having tracking/wheel allignment done.
p.s. - the 90 miles is progressive and with the flow not by a whim or by being a total lunatic!! Cheers

Maybe you should slow down? Just a suggestion, the speed limit is 70. |

your car does not want you to break the speed limit so it slows you down to 70 mph |

Check that they have tightened the roadwheels properly |

I would say the problem with the car 'Wobbling' may be that the wheels need balancing, does the steering wheel shake from side to side at speed, if so get the wheels balanced.
You dont state what the car is or engine type if its a TDI, 'Hissing' could be a leaky boost pipe.
Get a fault scan done and it should throw something up.
Also check all hoses are tight and not leaking, you may see slight oil leaks where the boost is getting out.
Just to throw a spanner in the works, you should always put your best tyres on the back. |

Sounds like an old worn out car protesting at the way you are torturing it.
The best treaded tyres should always be at the back if you want the car to handle well (front or rear drive no matter)
Other than that if a problem has returned that was fixed the method used to fix it has not lasted for some reason and perhaps it needs to be done again but properly.
Could be an air leak after the air mass sensor and before the throttle body.
I used to have similar tracking and alignment troubles and ordinary garages could not sort it. took it to a specialist that did a full 4 wheel alignment and fitted adjustable camber bolts to ensure absolute correct camber setting - cured it immediately |

Scan the vehicles computer so that you a see just what is going on with the vehicle because it sounds like the fuel pump is weak.. |

Maybe your car doesn't want to get itself smashed, so it isn't letting you drive 90 mph and is trying to keep you around the speed limit! No, seriously, I would recommend slowing down, or you might end up having more problems than something wrong with your car. |
