Why isnt there a challenge in drivin cars anymore?

I am not a big fan of the the modern driving aids that they manufacture into cars. They instill a false sense of security into drivers and most people do not understand the limitations of these devices either. All the driving aids in the world cannot defeat the laws of physics.

"all but impossible to hit something"

This sentence alone demonstrates how your IQ is confined to 2 digits. Have fun with your un-crashable car.

Because cars are for transportation. And 65 mustangs were not really muscle cars with out a lot of work. Why would any one want to hit things or slide out? Maybe when you get your drivers license you will find out.

You are not a driver, obviously. You may have passed the "barely competent vehicle operator's licence" test, but your attitude makes it obvious you aren't a driver. You WILL car about what you hit if you hit me.

The new cars are crap. They aren't a real driving experience. They have traction control and power steering and power brakes and front wheel drive and four wheel drive and they are packed with safety features. That is why people who really enjoy a good ride tend to gravitate towards something like a Dodge Viper. It doesn't have any of the wimpy features that modern cars have. And the inside of the car doesn't have any stupid features such as cupholders. It drives like a muscle car should drive. The driver controls his own destiny in a car like that.

Dude, lol no challenge in driving a car anymore? Judging by the amount of accidents each year, and some posted questions here on yahoo (nothing personal against anybody) it's still pretty challenging for some people. They put safety features in cars because not everybody is a professional race driver. A lot of people really don't know what they are doing when driving. So they make safer cars for the safety of the driver and people around him/her.

No challenge?? The minute you turn the ignition and switch to "Drive" you're challenged - by other drivers. You're constantly on your guard, you're on the alert and you do whatever it takes to avoid an accident-not cause one.

Hope I don't see your car up against some tree and you being air-lifted....!

Do your cars run on rail lines with built in stops? Seriously all but impossible to hit something? As to sliding out, if you drive a safe speed it was ALWAYS difficult to slide out. Well if you hit an ice patch or something though it's still pretty easy.

I agree. My present car is a '97 Mustang GT with no ABS, no automatic transmission, no traction control, no adaptive cruise control, no paddle shift, no collision sensors, no yaw/roll controls and no damn Onstar.
I really enjoy DRIVING a car verses riding one.
