Why should the legal driving age stay at 16?

When someone is 16, they still are under the control of their parents. This control means that if they start to act a fool, the parents can withdraw their driving privileges. At 18 most young people are in college or working, and parental control and influence is a lot less.

Just look at college students vs high school students. While at college, they make their own choices as to food, friends, dating, curfews and other parts of life. A high school student will have a curfew and a parent can forbid any activity.

When you raise the driving age, you are removing the amount of time that a young person is learning about driving (before and after licensing) under the control of their parents.

i think it should stay at 16 because i think its better to have more experience with driving before you go off to college by yourself. if it changed to 18 there wouldnt be much time to practice before your on your own. it wouldnt be safe to have such little experience

ask this question do you want people going of to college with minimal driving experience? Also the brain is more mailable at 16 then 18 and will make driving more natural.

16 is when you start taking on responsibilities and you stay out later with friends. if it was any lower though there would be a lot more accidents with teenagers and all teens would be blamed not just the ones that are 14 and have been in accidents compared to those who are 18. hope this helps

are u kidding me? kids shouldnt drive until 18! driving when i turn 17 is a dumb move, all kids should ease into it slowly. little kids dont know crap about driving and any parent that buys their spoiled asz kid a car at 16 is telling them go head go **** urself kiddy.

the driving age should stay at 16. simple as that. a person's age has nothing to do with their experience level of driving which is what this is all about. you can be 40 and get your license and you're still just as inexperienced as a 16 year old. the kids need more practice, not a higher age level. change the laws so they have to have their learner's for longer not so they don't get them until they're adults and legally adults, and therefore have less parental guidance. if the kids have a year and a half or two years of drivers they become more experienced and are more capable to handle a car. age isn't the dangerous factor here, experience is.
