Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless colorless gas that is produced by combustion. Vehicle exhaust contains CO. When you operate any fuel burning engine in an enclosed area, the level of CO can reach lethal levels quickly.
Unless there is a ventilation system in the garage (such as you will find in repair shops) there is a very serious risk of injury or death. Depending on the layout of the garage and the house, CO can get into the house even if the garage door is left open. |

Yes. If you leave your car running in your garage you run the risk of carbon monoxide leaking into your home which can cause death from carbon monoxide poisoning. You don't want to leave it running in your garage for this very reason. It wouldn't necessarily produce a fire unless something like and open flame or electrical wires or current were around the gas, but the main reason is because you do not want it to leak into your home. |
