Why won't American people fight back by not buying gas for their cars, using other means of transportation?

Not filling up on Sundayz is a good place to start. If everyone drove just 1 less mile a day...that would drive the price of gas down almost 70 cents a gallon.

It's a wonderful idea, however, it would involve many people to undergo a rather dramatic life-style change. It's hard enough to get people to recycle, much less change their mode of transportation.

Pathos. During the "GAS CRISIS" of the 70's people cared enough to fight back. Today, they just don't care and go on like sheep accepting whatever comes their way.

Until the average American can afford an alternative fuel vehicle, they will continue using gas-powered cars. Even still, it has been shown that hybrids aren't as cost-efficient as advertised. Their higher prices offset the savings in fuel. It will take an average of 8yrs to recover the cost of the car.

Show me a reliable solar powered or corn oil powered car that's cost effective (i.e. the savings offset the cost) and I'll gladly buy one. As it is now, I'm carpooling whenever I can and using my cruise control to keep my at just 5mph's over the speed limit.

First off. People driving fast has nothing to do with the prices of gas. second, most people can't walk to work so yea, we need gas.

i read before that a nationwide boycott fo just ONE DAY would cause a huge difference (just refuel the day before or day after)......

@Bob S There actually is one thing people won't accept and that's people calling them on the power they have but are refusing to use. They can't stand people who stand up for what's right because it shows them how stupid, apathetic, masochistic, or whatever reason for not fighting back that they are. They make excuses about how they can't do something, but start to get really anxious when you prove they can either by answering their excuse or doing it yourself.
