In my neighborhood, we have perfectly good sidewalks but, most of the people I see walking are walking in the street. Now this is bad enough, but I even see parents pushing strollers along out in the street. Not just crossing the street but strolling down the street out there with the traffic!! Why wouldn't you stay on the sidewalk especially with a stroller when there are perfectly good sidwalks?

i don't know why they do it but here if the police see them doing that they can be i big trouble for child endangerment.and they could lose their children. |

In London we are plagued by idiots (even mature adults) riding bicycles along the narrow sidewalks at considerable speed, showing absolutely no consideration for pedestrians. It is getting to the point where walking in the road is safer. |

Do you live in a large city or in a neighborhood that has crime? I used to live in the city of Chicago (now I'm out in the suburbs) and even though my neighborhood was reasonbly safe, someone once advised me never to walk on the sidewalk when I am alone b/c someone could be hiding in the bushes waiting to mug/grab purses/kidnap children. I never did walk on the street instead, but never forgot that advice.
So my guess is...perhaps not stupidity, but fear. |

im not a parent with a stroller or anything like that, but i do tend to walk in the street rather than sidewalks. i dunno why, i think cause the sidewalks tend to have cracks in them and be unlevel.... |
