Why would someone want to turn off daytime running lights?

My mom works for a car dealership and many times the daytime running lights are built right in and people want them to be turned off. Why though? I mean most shut off when you turn your car off (so you don't have to worry about leaving your lights on). Some states it is required to have your lights on all/most of the time. You don't have to worry about turning them on when you need them in rain, fog, or darkness. So why would someone want them turned off?

i also work for a dealer and see this every so often usually the reason given is someone wants their car to be able to sit at idle with no lights showing for some reason most often this person is a hunter or a farmer |

There are a large number of people esp. in America who do not like not having the choice to do or not do something.
The GD politicians work for me not the other way around so do not tell me I have to wear a seat belt, turn my lights on during the day, or to buy a certain kind of light bulb.

Maybe they want to park with engine running and spy on someone?
Shoot, on most Chrysler cars all you have to do is put on the parking brake. Just one notch will usually do it and the parking brake will not actually be applied at that point. |

Soccer Chick, there is no telling why some people want things done that are actually detrimental to them, particularly when the things are safety items. Many people just do not understand what some things are for, and there are others that just rebel against things that are legislated to be done. Why else would people not wear seat belts?

I have some customers that ask us to do the same thing and I will not because of two things, (1) this is for their safety and (2) there is a liability issue connected to doing this.
As for why they ask to do this, it is very simple, they are uneducated about the way that this will help and or save their lives. |
