I live in livermore, CA. I did not see the small sign and turned right on a no turn on red stop light. Got cought and now just waiting for the court date. How much does it cost for these kind of fines. Will my lic. be affected, and do i have to attend traffic school?

A courtesy notice will be mailed approximately 6 weeks after the date the citation was issued. If you do not receive the courtesy notice, it is your responsibility to respond to the original citation within 60 days or you driving privilege may be suspended, and a warrant may be issued for your arrest.
You were most likely cited for failure to obey a traffic control signal or device (or something similar). It is a moving violation & according to the CA points system, I believe you will accrue 1 point for the violation.
Below is a web link to the Livermore PD's website. Scroll down to the bottom of the page that populates & it will give you the available options regarding your citation (whether you can request traffic school, trial by declaration (TBD), if you even have to appear for your citation, etc)

It's a moving violation. You were moving when you turned, right?
Then YES, points.
Call the judge (or whoever it says to call on the ticket) for options such as traffic school and fine amount.

No such thing as a" no turn on red ticket". They either gave you a ticket for not obeying a traffic sign or a ticket for not obeying a traffic control device. Both of which are moving violations and are assessed points. |

Ya , prob. a trap. Cities put signs up higher than you look a head. I made a left hand turn in New Port Beach parking lot and got pulled over. The sign was 12ft. high and not at eye Level. I paid the fine. But can't remember if it was a moving violation. Moving violations up your insurance. Don't think you have to go to school for that but watch out from your insurance co. |
