Very Good Point! Also check the oil and tires, and they need to teach all that with safety tips.
Does any one remember when they actually had "full service"
It's incredible that our economically challenged society has put some people in a position to put our lives in danger. We now take it for granted. Think about it, we pay over $4. a gallon for gas AND we have to take the risk of pumping gas ourselves.
It would be a good idea if these gas marts personnel has an extra staff member to include these services as needed. They don't have to be a mechanic, just some safety training about that. It would actually create a job. You know they can afford to do it!
I would be glad to extent the attendant a non-taxable tip for his/her efforts. |

Step1
Find out which side of the car the gas tank fill spout is on.
Step2
Pull up to the appropriate gas pump, making sure the fill spout is facing the pump.
Step3
Turn off the car.
Step4
Open the gas tank door. On newer cars, this is done with a button from the inside of the car, but on older cars the tank can be opened by hand, often with a key.
Step5
Unscrew the cap of the gas tank.
Step6
Put the gas cap where you won't forget it.
Step7
If you're paying with a credit card, run the card through the machine and follow any printed instructions. Otherwise, see the attendant. Many gas stations in cities require you to pay before you pump.
Step8
Select the type of gas you'd like (regular, premium, super). Never put diesel fuel in a nondiesel engine.
Step9
Lift the handle of the gas hose off its stand and insert the nozzle into the tank of your car. Make sure it is securely inserted by pushing it in firmly.
Step10
Push the switch or press the button on the pump to allow the gas to flow. This switch is different at different stations; follow the instructions at the pump.
Step11
Pull up on the trigger located in the handle of the gas hose. This will release the gas into the tank of your car.
Step12
Some triggers lock into place, freeing you to wash windows and check oil while the machine pumps gas. Check for this feature.
Step13
Note that when the tank is full, the fuel will stop pumping. Remove the gas hose. Don't try to "top off" the gas tank because this will lead to spillage.
Step14
Firmly screw the gas tank cap back into place and shut the gas tank door. |

Read the driving manual. It will tell you what you need to know. Or, go ask your dad or mom. |

It's very easy to fill gas. I lived in NJ for many years, and once I was about to move to Florida, I was nervous about pumping my own gas. But it's very easy. If you paying in cash, you pull up to one of the pumps, go inside, and give them the money and tell them how much you want and tell them the pump number. Go back to your car, open the gas cap, press the button of which gas you want (regular, premium, etc), and put the nozzle in the gas hole, and pull the trigger. It will automatically stop to the price you've paid for. Put the nozzle back on the pump, close the gas cap, and you're done.
If you pay with a debit/credit card, it'll give you step by step directions. Just swipe the card, put your PIN number or zip code, take your card back, press start or pick which kind of gas you want, pump away and release the trigger once you've reached the amount you want to pay for. Close the cap, put the gun away, and you're done. It's real easy, lol.
I also forgot to tell you to turn off the engine before you pump, and don't use your cell phone and def don't smoke anywhere near the pump. |

I can't believe you need somebody to teach to do that.
If you have trouble with that, maybe you shouldn't be driving. |

No, you'll need to contact human resources at your local fire department and bring a box of kleenex and a very fast convertible. |

They should teach you. I learned on my own the 1st time I ever went to the self service (once the gas got to $3.50 I started using self service to save 10 cents per gallon) since I was sick the day we went to fill up gas with my car group. |
