Will this be reasonably effective car theft prevention?

I have an '89 Buick Le Sabre that was recently stolen. I got the car back and saw that the person who stole it punched a hole in the door just below the lock with what was probably a screwdriver. They were then able to unlock it by unlatching the locking mechanism.

The car isn't worth that much money so I'm not looking to stick a lot of money in it, just something that can prevent the same thing from happening. I found these lock guards which attach to the outside of the door with irreversible screws essentially preventing someone from punching another hole in my door and unlocking it. I'm aware this will only do so much as someone might be able to pry them off with a crowbar or break a window. But does this seem like something that would be worth it. They're less than $10 and might help. Plus I need to patch the hole withe something, and this would be easy.

On top of that, I plan on installing a toggle switch to disable the ignition, but that comes later. So, does the lock guard seem worth the time and effort? There's a link below if you're unfamiliar.

Sounds like a good plan for an old car.

I would find the circuit that supplies power to the fuel pump and install a toggle switch here so the engine won't start.

We have installed similar items like this and they will work plus the toggle switch is a good idea, you should also put a dummy blinking alarm light on the dash as well.
