Yes.
In addition to paying a fine, you should be beaten, too.
If you are also driving without insurance, people who can show proof of insurance should be able to line up to beat you.
If you don't have a license and/or insurance, take the bus. |

LOL! You'll get worse than a ticket ... you'll be spending the night in jail, then a couple mornings at the court house, then probably a few months on probation. |

In California, you will get a "fix-it" ticket, which means you have to show up in court and prove you have a license - in N.Y. they probably make you sign over your first born son. |

If you're lucky; if you aren't they might impound the car and give you a ride to the Courthouse, depending upon which County you're caught driving illegally. My sister almost had her car impounded for that infraction; luckily, her (now ex-)husband is a NYC police officer and she mentioned that fact to the arresting officers. Good luck! |

Driving without a license means that a person has not met a standard. That person is potentially much more dangerous than other road users.
Would you endure surgury from an unqualified doctor?
People driving without a license are a dangerous liability and the law punishes the offenders accordingly to better protect the public. |

The cop has discretion. They can run the plate and your number to verify you nut you must have it on your person when driving. You will get a ticket more often then not. |

If the police stop you for some other reason, like speeding, improper turn, improper lane change, improper signaling, whatever
invariably the police want to see your driver license, and your proof of vehicle registration.
If you do not have what they ask for, yes you get a ticket for that, and probably on the spot the car is impounded because you do not have proof that you have the right to be driving it.
Depending on original reason for stopping you, and depending on your attitude, you may also go to jail. |
