Would you hit a car on purpose if you had the right of way?

To be honest I have been very tempted to do just that, but there are a few things that stop me.

The first being something called "failure to reduce speed to avoid collision" which is not a cheap ticket and the other is that I really don't relish the idea of getting a face full of airbag. Not to mention tearing up a $30,000 car because of some idiot.

If your day is going so badly that you're tempted to clobber somebody, follow him to where he's going and when he gets out of the car beat the hell out of him. Then call a lawyer. (joke)

I believe in defensive driving which dictates slowing down and making sure it's safe regardless of who has the right of way. I'd rather yield and live than push and die or be crippled for life.

You always have to give room to the other driver and you are never to assume. Think about it. If you were to continue your speed and someone quickly darts in front of you, then you will most likely hit them or you will encounter a near miss. You want to give yourself enough room to make any changes necessary. You should slow down in this case. Maintaining current speed would cause you to be an accident. Be a defensive driver and make the changes ahead of time. Don't assume anything.

I have thought about it, but no, i would not. My bro got in a bad accident when he hit a truck with a horse trailer that turned left in front of him on a blind approach. Not a good scene. he's fine now.

About a week ago, i was turning right on a green light, the cars across from me, which were turning left, they pulled right out in front of me as if I wasn't there. As if they are clueless about the right of way law. I just honked my horn and waited untill they were done turning illegally.

I did it one time, but I was having a really shitty day. It backfired because the cop only filled out a minor accident report and it didn't have the guys insurance info. I ended up having to pay to get my car fixed because it would have been too expensive to sue.

it seems that you have two different questions and some anger. I use my best judgement and will definately be aggressive when someone drives badly and makes me avoid an accident because of their stupidity but to ask if someone would hit another car on purpose? THAT IS EVEN WORSE. Blow your horn, yell and gesture them, how could you ever justify not avoiding an accident to prove a point? You don't care about your car or public safety? It's like asking a waiter if they would spit in someone's food because they can. You need some help. I'll get out of my car and yell before I hit someone.

In some states, you could get a citation for Failure to adjust speed to prevent an accident, or similar wording, if it can be proved that you intentionally hit a vehicle doing something illegal (or just plain stupid) in front of you- like your example, for example.

So it's always best to drive defensively & do all you can to avoid being in that kind of situation to begin with.

No ! It takes less time to let them get out of your way than it does to wait for the cops to do an accident report , an ambulance to cart your dumb as* off to the hospital , the tow truck to haul your junked foreign import to the bone yard and your wife to come to the hospital and kick your butt for being stupid. And then begins the traffic tickets , increased insurance premiums, etc. So to quote Bugs Bunny ,
" I shudda stood in bed ".

You have to what ever is needed to help avoid the accident as well even though you have the right of way...
