@60mph (or 70mph) in a head-on crash (we have to assume the other vehicle is traveling in the on-coming direction at the same speed) the energy of (effectively) 120mph (or 140mph) has to be dissipated.
Because of the mass difference, I *think*, barring a stroke of luck (or an act of God), and you somehow bounce off (but being, as you say "head-on") you had better hope your life insurance is paid up. |

70mph head on crash, meaning both vehicles going 35mph each? or both vehicles going 70mph(this would be 140mph crash)....either one..i woudnt want to be in the car with you |

60 MPH WOULD EQUAL 120 MPH AT IMPACT AND SO ON, SO THE ANSWER WOULD BE NO, THEY WOULD JUST USE WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE VEHICLE AS THE COFFIN. |

No clue how old this thread is, but I survived a headon with a 120+ mph impact. They estimate my friend and I were going 65 and the eldest lady who got onto the wrong side of the interstate and hit us was going 55. I was released the same day, as was my friend who was driving. The 82 year old woman survived as well, with a badly crushed leg from keeping the gas held down while hitting us. No joke. And for anyone who doesn't believe this, I can back it up with accident photos as well as a news stories that was about two 19 year old girls in a small car surveying a headon with an SVU at high impact, which of course was my friend and I on March 9, 2003 at about 1pm on a Sunday on interstate 540 in Springdale, AR. So it might be rare, but people can somehow survive this. We were told at that impact our organs should be destroyed on impact...but that did not occur. |
