Wrecker driving reckless and towing a car?

My husband and I followed a wrecker yesterday only because he was going 85 miles and hour, all over the road and almost knocking cars off the road. He called the sheriffs office and they asked him what the wrecker looked like and ect. He gave him all the info they needed. We followed him to a Auto Recovery place and called the sheriff back to let them know where he was. We were told that now... He has got to where he was going and it would be his word against ours. The sheriff did nothing about this and this wrecker could have cost lives. What good does it do to try and protect others on the road if the sheriff could care less about this? Need some feed back. Am I the only one that would have done the same thing?

We were told to follow him by the sheriff to see where he was going. We did. Nothing happened.

Do me a favor, call the towing company and ask to speak to the owner. Please tell him what you observed. Sometimes we hire bad drivers without knowing it, and it's calls from concerned citizens that help us weed them out. No wrecker company wants to get a reputation of being unsafe.

you thought by going 85 MPH along with the crazy driver was making the road safer? Why would you follow him, you were behind him so obviously he had passed you and you were in the clear. Next time just get the name of the company and the license plate.

I'm going to throw another scenario in & by all means DOES NOT excuse the driver of his actions, but first, I just need to say- try saying your question 5 times fast!!

A possible scenario could be that this towing company may be one of the local companies used to repossess vehicles. I've encountered a few employees of towing companies in the past while working security for an auto auction that was a safe haven storage for repos. I had one towing service call me @ 2AM to tell me their driver was coming in hard & fast with a repo, the car owner was chasing him with a shotgun & had shot at him a few times & 2 state troopers chasing the car owner.
Like I said, this does not excuse the driver of driving unsafe on the highways, but also seems to fit the profile of why the police seemed to lose interest after you told them where the wrecker stopped.

Get a job at the sheriff's department. Seriously dear. If you have that level of concern about public safety, it would be the perfect job for you, and you could make a difference on a daily basis.

These guys drive very aggressive and ignore rules.
The police ignores it, though they too have eyes.
