Writing on the back window of a car?

Okay i have court today, in like an hour. bt thats besides the point. I got a ticket for having writng on the rear window, like window paint. And i was just wondering if in anyway that shouldnt have been a ticket. becasue i thought but correct me if im wrong, youre not even reqired to have a rear view mirror? so why would it matter
So basically i just wanna know if i should say something about that ticket, becasue i dont know if it was wrong of hm to give it to me

I just wanted to say thanks for everyone who helped. luckly they threw out the writing on my back window ticket, and my speeding ticket. so i only had to deal with the transportantion of alcohol ticket. so thanks all.

If the ticket is specifically about the writing on the window, then it's probably for unsafe operation of the vehicle. However in most jurisdictions if you have side mirrors on both the driver's and passenger's side of your car, you don't need a rear window at all - two-ton trucks often have a rear window in the cab, but there's that great big cargo box blocking it - mirrors makes it okay. I don't think they can make the obstruction of view charge stick.

If the language was offensive, you might be stuck for a public indecency charge.

Well ,although I feel for you it is indeed an obstruction of vision in the eyes of the law.
I received a ticket for a "tree" air freshener hanging from my rear view. Also obstruction of vision.
The officer also said that any stickers (parking , or otherwise) can be considered an obstruction of vision.
A small crack in your windsheild is obstruction of vision.
If your car had a rear view mirror , and you have removed it , that is considered removing a safety device , just as if you cut the seat belt out. Or operating a vehicle with "faulty" safety device.
These are all tools I learned long ago that police use so they can virtually pull anyone over.
I wonder , did the officer perform a vehicle search ? If so , this is the only reason he pulled you over.

Just explain to the judge that writing on back window is illegal. But you are right in that if a person doesn't have aa rear view mirror that is even worse off.

You possibly got it for obstructing the view out your back window and it makes it a moving violation too .

Sadly it is correct, because if from the inside of your car you can't see the cars behind you or it's a distraction to you it's illegal to have it there. I hope this helped.

No rear view mirror? That isn't correct. You obviously need a rear view mirror because you need to see who is behind you. The reason you were ticketed is because the writing on your rear window is considered an obstruction of view. You cannot see properly through the writing. That is why you were ticketed because anything that inhibits your view is an obstruction. Your rear view window is to remain clear so you can see all traffic and see any changes. I don't know who told you, you don't need a rear view mirror but you always need that mirror. It was placed there for a reason, and that is to give you a view of what is behind you. So you were wrong for writing it on your rear window. There is nothing you can do about the ticket. You were wrong, and you were punished for it. Fighting it would do no good it would just be a waste of time. Also location has nothing to do with it, laws are there for a reason.

Well there you go. The answer is the state. I received a ticket there in a commercial vehicle for doing 4 MPH over the speed limit.
That was just the beginning. I was placed out of service and informed that I had to settle a ticket in New York for not paying a toll. I spent all day trying to find out about such ticket and part of the next. My boss hired someone to drive my truck across the state line. I never did find anything out.
To your post. There is probably a law stating that a vehicle must either have a rear view mirror or one or both side view mirrows. You will probably be able to tell us when you return but you most likely are to plead guilty.
I live in Tx. and La. and almost every pick up has a mural in the back glass. In many towns across the country people paint things about their home teams especially on the rear glass.

Good for you because that sort of ticket is a waste of time for you as well as for the court system....
