Actually I think you are safe. You won't get a ticket. First of all, you would notice a flash if you were caught. But secondly you made a legal turn because anytime you are already in the intersection you are supposed to continue with your turn. You cannot block an intersection. If you are already out there, just continue through the light. Otherwise if the police are behind you and you are blocking the intersection, you will be ticketed for a moving violation. So you were correct to continue with your turn.

Most new drivers (and experienced drivers, too) don't understand how to make a proper left turn at an "unprotected" traffic light. That's a green light with NO ARROW.
You are supposed to pull INTO the intersection, straight ahead from the turn pocket, STOP, look ahead for approaching traffic and then complete your turn.
IF the light turns yellow while in the intersection, be sure the approaching traffic is slowing for the same yellow and proceed cautiously with your turn.
Most drivers wait BEHIND the crosswalk for approaching traffic to clear and that is INCORRECT. One car at a time is permitted to enter the intersection.
Also be sure NOT to turn your wheels while in the intersection. IF hit from behind, you would be pushed into the oncoming traffic. W

You will NEVER trip a red light camera doing your left turn in this manner.

They just started installing cameras at the most hazardous intersections in our town. The Police dept. ran an add in the paper stating that the determining factor for running a red light is the position of the rear tires when the light turns red. The rear tires must clear the outer most cross walk or white line before the red light comes on. Remember your not allowed to enter the intersection when it is blocked with excessive traffic or block the cross walk.

That would not be a yield sign,it would be a stop light.Were you in the left turn lane?If so,you would have had a left turn arrow (green ) and it would be illegal to proceed into the intersection before the the arrow turned green.It is illegal to proceed into an intersection on a yellow (amber ) light.You will probably get a ticket along with anyone else who ran the light.
